  • Brevard residents will soon enjoy Brevard County's first Trader Joe’s store when it opens on December 3 at 9 a.m. at 2221 Town Center Ave in Avenue Viera — the space where Michael’s once operated — as company officials confirmed the launch on November 28.  Florida Today
  • Holiday shoppers in Palm Bay have a chance to grab big deals as Cyber Monday starts on Dec. 1 — major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Target and Walmart will offer discounts — with some sales extending into a full Cyber Week.  Florida Today

CRIME NEWS

  • Melbourne City Council censured former councilwoman Yvonne Minus on Nov. 25 for allegedly threatening Vice Mayor David Neuman during a heated meeting on Sep. 24—police reported the threat and the State Attorney’s Office declined to prosecute amid public calls for accountability.  FOX 35 Orlando

CULTURE NEWS

  • Tropical Wonderland was a theme park in Titusville that opened as Florida Wonderland in 1959 and featured an Old West town, live animal exhibits, and a popular Monkey Island with free-roaming primates. Johnny Weissmuller endorsed the park in 1971 before it closed by 1973 as nature reclaimed the grounds.  Space Coast Daily
  • Photographer Tim Shortt captured a striking photo of a lion in a glow-in-the-dark mural at Brevard Zoo that earned Photo of the Week honors. The Lights On: A Nighttime Art Experience exhibit runs until Jan. 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and offers illuminated paintings and virtual reality stations — tickets cost $45 to $55 per person.  Florida Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Brevard County has designated March 21 as Space Coast Day to honor its legacy in space exploration—an official proclamation will be unveiled on January 13 at 5 p.m.—and community members are invited to join the celebration.  Space Coast Daily

SPORTS NEWS

  • Bishop Moore (12-1) won 31-28 over Eau Gallie (9-4) in the Region 2–3A high school football championship game on Nov. 28. Senior Amar'e Johnson ran three touchdown runs and broke the school's single-season rushing record while Eau Gallie's late fourth-quarter comeback fell short.  Florida Today
