  • Brevard Humane Society broke ground Friday on a $2.5 million expansion at its Cocoa campus—this project will add 8,000 square feet and boost capacity from 150 to 200 animals by updating outdated facilities.   • Brevard Sports Network broadcaster Caleb Brown was discharged from Sea Pines Rehab Hospital after a 20-foot fall during a youth football game in September and is now recovering at home—doctors noted he still cannot put full weight on one leg while he funds his recovery and hopes to return to sports radio soon.  FOX 35 Orlando

  • Michael Gonzalez, a student leader at Viera High, attended the Global Youth Leadership Academy in Ireland last July thanks to an $8,950 grant from Health First.   • A local financial planner warned Palm Bay residents that scammers are using fake calls, texts, and emails to make them send money or give out personal details.   • Zumper data shows that apartment rental prices in Brevard dropped 5% from last year's median of $2,952, with the typical listing at $2,800 since September.
