  • A veteran said he was denied an Uber ride to the airport on Monday because the driver claimed his service dog needed a muzzle (a rule that federal law and Uber policy do not support) and he reported the incident while still worrying about future rides.  FOX 35 Orlando

  • Publix will open two new stores in Florida with the Tampa location at West River opening Oct. 23 and the Palm Bay store at Heritage Square, a two-story design, opening Oct. 30. The Palm Bay location will feature an 11'9" tall giant drivable shopping cart built on a Volkswagen Sand Rail & include a pharmacy, liquor store, and seating areas.  Florida Today

CULTURE NEWS

  • The 28th annual Puerto Rican Day parade in Palm Bay celebrated 'The Echoes of Wisdom of Our Elders' as United Third Bridge hosted a festive event that blended culture, music and community pride. A Photo of the Week by Tim Shortt captured Godmother of the Year Ada Garcia riding in a red convertible—her ride highlighted the vibrant spirit and heritage of the celebration.  Florida Today

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The National Hurricane Center states Tropical Storm Jerry is pulling heavy rain and 60 mph winds in the Atlantic while Subtropical Storm Karen was downgraded yesterday—Florida’s east coast can expect rough surf and rip currents from a nor’easter and Jerry through at least Monday.  Florida Today
  • National Weather Service meteorologists said a major storm dropped 6 inches of rain on Friday and more rain is expected today to flood Brevard County roads and raise coastal water levels. Drivers are urged to take extra care as flash flood warnings are in effect in West Melbourne and high tides may bring waters 2 to 3 feet above normal near the north beach and 1 to 2 feet above normal in the south.  Florida Today

  • SpaceX crews will launch a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station tonight on an Amazon Project Kuiper mission to put 28 satellites into orbit. The liftoff is set for 8:41 p.m.—backup launch opportunities extend until 11:15 p.m. and rough seas might delay the booster landing.  Florida Today
