  • SpaceX will launch its next batch of Starlink satellites tomorrow from Cape Canaveral at no earlier than 5:20 a.m. from Launch Complex 40; the rocket’s first stage will land on the drone ship — A Shortfall of Gravitas — in the Atlantic with timing dependent on weather and the ship’s location.  Florida Today

  • On October 3, Taylor Swift will launch a movie event in Brevard to celebrate her new album The Life of a Showgirl by premiering the music video for The Fate of Ophelia and showing behind-the-scenes footage—tickets are $12 and the event runs until October 5. The 89-minute feature will play at AMC, Cinemark, and Regal theaters.  Florida Today
  • Early on the morning of July 31, 1715, a powerful hurricane wrecked the Spanish treasure fleet near present-day Melbourne Beach, sinking 11 ships and causing over 1,000 deaths. The disaster disrupted Spanish finances and led to salvage efforts that later helped create a state park and museum—an enduring part of local history.  Space Coast Daily

  • At Kennedy Space Center, a rare rocket mission will launch three scientific payloads into space on September 23 at 7:32 a.m.—NASA’s IMAP will study the Sun’s energy, NOAA’s SWFO-L1 will monitor space weather, and NASA’s Carruthers mission will examine Earth’s geocorona.  Space Coast Daily
  • Local CEO A.J. Hiers is funding 15 billboards across Brevard County to honor slain conservative Charlie Kirk and will cover costs to rename Cypress Avenue in downtown Eau Gallie to Charlie Kirk Lane—an effort he says is a gesture of compassion rather than a political move. Clear Channel Outdoor and Lamar Advertising have agreed to display the billboards, and Melbourne will consider the street renaming proposal at its Sept. 24 meeting at 6:30 p.m.—a decision that will include community input.  Florida Today
  • The Coast Guard Cutter Alert returned to Port Canaveral on Friday after a 58-day Windward Passage patrol that included aiding the fishing vessel Calico Jack with engine troubles—while its crew conducted 10 transfers of contraband and detainees during Operation Pacific Viper.  Space Coast Daily

  • Today the Florida Department of Agriculture features a new recipe that uses locally sourced beef, crisp salad greens, sweet peppers, and cucumbers to create a Fresh From Florida Salad with Vegetable Meatballs, finished with Parmesan cheese and a choice of Italian vinaigrette or a low-fat lemon and olive oil dressing — showing how local ingredients can bring a healthy twist to everyday meals.  Space Coast Daily

  • Brevard County high school teams played Week 5 football games last Friday with Eau Gallie visiting Cocoa, Palm Bay hosting Melbourne, and Holy Trinity playing Astronaut plus Satellite hosting Atlantic while live scoring updates were posted online.  Florida Today
  • Florida State football player Richie Leonard IV was named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team on Sept. 16 for his community service, which includes hosting an annual youth football camp for more than 600 participants and donating $5,000 to his former high school team. His work, inspired by his mother’s breast cancer battle, also spans sponsoring AAU basketball camps and a mission trip to Argentina—he is one of 11 finalists for the Wuerffel Trophy.  Florida Today
