  • Members of the Methodist faith will join a Cuban Mission Dinner at Suntree United Methodist Church on Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. Attendees will enjoy Cuban mojo pork and receive a keynote from Molly McEntire, with a $25 pre-registration cost + free childcare offered for those who sign up early.  Hometown News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The moon, Venus, and Regulus will appear close together in the pre-dawn sky on Friday, Sept. 19 for Florida skywatchers. Observers at dark sky locations should have the clearest sight—clouds along the east coast may reduce visibility.  Florida Today

SPORTS NEWS

  • Viera High School long snapper Blake Thomas has been selected to play in the U.S. Army Bowl on Dec. 21 at the Ford Center at the Star in Frisco, Texas — he earned the honor after winning a national showcase in Naples.  Florida Today
  • Eastern Florida State College opened its cross country season Friday morning at the Southern Showcase at the John Hunt Cross Country Running Park in Huntsville with the men finishing 46th overall and the women 47th overall. The teams will run again at the Pre-Region Meet on September 26 in Tallahassee — a chance to boost their rankings.  Space Coast Daily
