  • Events to honor those lost in the Sept. 11 attacks are planned across Brevard, with some ceremonies scheduled for Sept. 6 and others for Sept. 11. In Palm Bay, a remembrance ceremony will be held at Sacrifice Park at 10 a.m.—other removals include events in Rockledge, Merritt Island, and Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.  Florida Today

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The National Hurricane Center is tracking a tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic that is showing more signs of development — forecasters expect it could turn into a tropical depression by the weekend.  Space Coast Daily

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health First has approved a master plan to expand Viera Hospital—adding 64 inpatient beds, 2 operating rooms, and an upgraded emergency department to serve the growing Central Brevard community. Construction on a new inpatient unit is expected to finish by spring while additional projects will improve imaging, gastroenterology, and cardiac services.  Hometown News
