Port Canaveral officials and community leaders held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new 6200 square foot camp store at Jetty Park that now serves campground guests and day park visitors with supplies, souvenirs and snacks.

The store opened after more than a year of planning and a ($2.7 million) investment marked the first step in a series of park upgrades.

Three high schools in the Sunshine State Athletic Association began football practice in the first week as they prepare for season openers in two weeks—Satellite started on July 31 with coach Dan Burke returning from retirement, Bayside held morning practices to beat the heat, and Space Coast practiced on Aug. 1 to defend its state title. Satellite will host Oak Ridge on Aug. 14 and both Bayside and Space Coast have games set for Aug. 15.
