  • On May 29, Orlando Health officials visited Matthew’s Hope Ministries’ Brevard campus in Cocoa after the nonprofit received food donations worth about $12,000 from Orlando Health and additional support from Rockledge Hospital—prompting the group to add extra storage and a new deep freezer. The donation helps nearly 600 individuals each week who rely on Matthew’s Hope for meals, clothing, and essential services.  Florida Today

  • SpaceX will launch its Falcon 9 rocket carrying Starlink satellites from Launch complex 40 (Cape Canaveral Space Force Station) from (12:57 a.m. to 5:28 a.m.) Monday, June 2 if weather is good. Residents on the Space Coast may see the launch as the rocket climbs into view.  Florida Today
  • Dolphins Rentals at Cape Crossing Marina on Merritt Island unveiled an exclusive virtual tour of its waterfront accommodations led by General Manager Ruby Daniel.   • Authorities warn that scam texts posing as state DMVs threaten vehicle registration and driving privileges if unpaid fees are not met (warnings issued on May 27 noted reports from several states, including ours) and residents should ignore such links and verify messages through trusted DMV contacts.  Florida Today

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On May 29, a longtime beachgoer in Satellite Beach captured a video of thousands of sand fleas swarming along the shore, and experts said the unusual gathering may be due to mating or feeding habits—though the crabs, which are used for bait, are harmless here. The rare event has startled beachgoers as the video quickly spread on social media.  FOX 35 Orlando

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On May 30, SpaceX launched a GPS III satellite from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, and the Falcon 9 booster landed on a drone ship — its fourth flight. The new satellite will improve GPS strength and resist jamming while the launch proceeded despite heavy thunderstorms and rains — SpaceX is set to launch Starlink satellites on June 2.  Florida Today
