  • SpaceX will launch a batch of Starlink V2 Mini satellites late Sunday night from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, with the window opening at 11:40 p.m. EDT. The Falcon 9 booster is expected to land on a droneship in the Atlantic Ocean — a key step in its plan to boost global mobile connectivity.  Space Coast Daily
  • A building permit filed this month shows that Trader Joe’s is planning to open its first store in Brevard County in Viera at 2221 Town Center—this could save local residents a trip to Orlando. Trader Joe’s representatives have not commented on the permit.  Florida Today

CRIME NEWS

  • A fishnapping at Maverick’s Hangar Bar and Grill in Satellite Beach left staff puzzled when a beloved betta named Rooster was stolen and later returned safely with fresh water on May 15 — the restaurant has no suspects — prompting local concern.  FOX 35 Orlando
  • Antonio J. Kent, 46, of Mims was taken into custody on May 15 after fleeing a traffic stop following a May 11 report of indecent exposure on Cheney Highway—police say he now faces multiple charges and urge any additional victims to come forward.  Space Coast Daily

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Florida's Department of Environmental Protection is appealing a ruling that its wastewater discharges are harming manatees in the Indian River Lagoon by killing the seagrass they need for food. The ruling said lingering pollutants could take over a decade to let the lagoon recover + the decision comes after record manatee deaths in recent years.  Florida Today
