  • Gov. DeSantis said on May 7 he would veto a proposed sales tax cut because he believes it would hurt his push for property tax relief for Florida residents—he warned it would mostly benefit tourists. Lawmakers who planned a tentative budget deal will need to renegotiate when they return on May 12.  Florida Today
  • Today, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced his support for two new bills that will protect residents from harmful chemicals and geoengineering. Senate Bill 700 stops local governments from adding fluoride to water and Senate Bill 56 bans releasing chemicals into the air, with penalties that include felony charges and fines — enforcement will begin on October 1.  Space Coast Daily
