  • Former New York congressman George Santos was sentenced on April 25 to more than seven years in prison for wire fraud and identity theft—he claimed to run an $80 million family fortune through the Devolder Organization, which used Brevard County addresses even though he had no local ties—and he was also linked to a Melbourne firm shut down as a Ponzi scheme.  Florida Today
  • Law enforcement agencies in Central Florida have stepped up visits to homeless camps to check for accidental or deliberate fires amid nearly 20 wildfires in the last five days — a Palm Bay patrol car caught fire during an inspection and a woman was arrested in Orange County while officials investigate the incidents.  FOX 35 Orlando

  • Brevard Public Schools announced that the Class of 2025 graduation ceremonies will be broadcast live on Space Coast Daily TV — sponsored by Eastern Florida State College. The ceremonies will take place at various venues from May 21 to May 27, including Palm Bay Magnet High School on May 24 at 9:00 a.m.  Space Coast Daily
  • On April 24, Orlando Health staff loaded over 150 boxes of office supplies from the closed Rockledge Hospital into trucks to donate to the Brevard Public Schools Foundation Supply Zone for Teachers off Clearlake Road in Cocoa — the supplies will help teachers and students.  Florida Today
