- ➤ Palm Bay Fire-Rescue said a large vegetation fire that burned a 30-40 foot pile of vegetation on April 21 is contained but still smoldering near St. Johns Heritage Parkway and Babcock Street. - ➤ At a county commission meeting on April 22, officials voted to study a fire assessment that could raise homeowners’ taxes by up to 37%—a move aimed at funding 90 vacant firefighter positions and wage increases.
