  • Brevard County Parks and Recreation will host Merfolk Academy on May 24 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the McLarty Aquatic Center in Rockledge, where participants who pass a 12-yard swim test will learn safe tail swimming techniques—using provided mermaid tails and monofins—for a fee of $28.94 per student.  Space Coast Daily

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Friday night, a scheduled flight to Birmingham, England was aborted at Melbourne-Orlando International Airport after a mechanical error caused the plane to veer off a taxiway and collapse its right main landing gear—affecting 350 passengers, though no one was injured.  FOX 35 Orlando

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Pre-registration is open now for free summer enrichment camps for K‑11 students enrolled in Brevard Public Schools—private, charter, and homeschool students are not eligible. The camps will run from June 2 to June 26 at local schools while the registration site opens May 5 at 6 p.m. and closes May 19.  Florida Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, SpaceX and NASA will launch a Falcon 9 rocket from pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center at 4:15 a.m. EDT to send about 6,700 pounds of supplies to the International Space Station and its Dragon spacecraft will dock around 8:20 a.m. Tuesday. Later tonight— a second Falcon 9 will launch the Bandwagon-3 satellite rideshare mission from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station between 8:43 p.m. and 9:23 p.m.  Florida Today

  • The Eastern Florida State College men’s golf team tees off today at 9 a.m. in Tuscaloosa—competing in the NJCAA Southeast District Championship where they will play 36 holes on Monday and finish with the final round on Tuesday.  Space Coast Daily
