  • SpaceX is preparing to launch 29 Starlink satellites from Space Launch Complex 40 in Cape Canaveral today at 6:35 a.m.—the Falcon 9 booster will land on the droneship Just Read the Instructions in the Atlantic Ocean.  FOX 35 Orlando
  • Port Canaveral CEO Capt. John Murray will be honored in May at the International Maritime Hall of Fame in Chelsea Piers (New York City) for his role in boosting revenue and improvements. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Florida have risen overnight with the average now at $3.951 a gallon on March 19 while six counties recorded averages above $4 a gallon, following steady gains since early March. State officials predict that trends will push prices over $4 again if demand continues to grow.  Florida Today

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Two burrowing owls (Benito and Concho) were repatriated after stowing away on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship to Spain. Conservation agencies oversaw their year-long journey, including quarantine, and released them on March 12 at Dinner Island Ranch Wildlife Management Area.  Florida Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Under Florida Senate Bill 290 effective July 1, local governments cannot ban gas powered lawn equipment so residents will keep hearing the loud blowers even as concerns over environmental + health issues persist. The law awaits Gov DeSantis’s signature.  Florida Today
  • With TSA workers unpaid due to a government shutdown, some Florida airports may soon close while wait times could reach 3-4 hours, adding delays for travelers. Recent estimates show security lines ranging from 1 to 68 minutes (depending on the airport), so visitors should plan to arrive early.  Florida Today
