  • On Tuesday, Mar. 3 the full moon will shine as a total lunar eclipse makes the moon appear red when the Earth blocks the sun. Florida residents may see the eclipse begin at 3:44 a.m. and reach totality at 6:33 a.m. (local conditions could affect visibility).  Florida Today
  • Residents can get ready for spring with events across Brevard this month. The BDG Spring Fling happens on April 25 and a landscaping seminar is set for March 21 at the Melbourne Auditorium (further workshops and planting guides will follow), giving gardeners tips to revive yards after the freezes.  Florida Today

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Palm Bay Fire Rescue responded on Thursday morning after smoke was reported from a home in Northwest Palm Bay (rescuing a dog and containing the blaze with no injuries) while Red Cross services assisted homeowners.  Space Coast Daily

  • SpaceX will launch a Falcon 9 rocket with 29 Starlink satellites at 7:16 a.m. ET today from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station & the booster will land on a droneship in the Atlantic to expand broadband internet service across many communities.  FOX 35 Orlando

  • An arbitrator ruled that Melissa Calhoun’s reprimand was handled wrongly — the teacher’s union now seeks her reappointment. However, Superintendent Mark Rendell said she will not be hired again, and the final decision depends on Principal Courtney Lundy’s recommendation.  Florida Today

  • Brevard County firefighters and the Florida Forest Service knocked down a 20-acre brush fire west of Blounts Ridge Road in Mims on Feb. 26, ensuring the area remained safe with a coordinated response.  Florida Today
