  • The Palm Bay Strawberry Festival will take place March 14-15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Fred Poppe Regional Park to benefit the Children's Hunger Project, featuring food, monster truck rides, axe-throwing, and bounce houses.  Florida Today
  • A total lunar eclipse will be visible in Palm Bay on Tuesday, Mar. 3 from 3:44 a.m. ET until 6:23 a.m. ET, with the blood moon showing a red-orange hue as it passes through Earth’s shadow.  Florida Today
  • After a serious car crash on Friday night along the Brevard and Indian River County line, community volunteers from Isla’s Journey tracked and reunited Lena Narain with her dog Haze. The pup was found near the accident on Wednesday and is expected to recover from minor injuries.  FOX 35 Orlando

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Congressman Mike Haridopolos and Keith Winsten announced today that $1.75 million in fiscal year 2026 Commerce, Justice, Science appropriations will fund a new sea turtle rehabilitation center at Bowen Aquarium in Port Canaveral, which will include 10,000 sqft of indoor space for injured turtles.  Hometown News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • NASA’s Artemis II rocket completed a major prelaunch fueling test on Feb. 19 at Kennedy Space Center, confirming repairs after a liquid hydrogen leak. Four astronauts begin quarantine today as NASA considers a launch window as early as March (with further dates in April under review).  Florida Today
  • Merritt Island High School (100 East Mustang Way) will host a civic engagement assembly called Your Vote Is Your Voice on Monday, Feb. 23 from 10:40 to 11:20 a.m. Supervisor of Elections Tim Bobanic will lead the event featuring a Vote in Honor of a Veteran initiative.  Space Coast Daily

HEALTH NEWS

  • Florida Department of Health in Brevard County will host the Feel Good February Health Fair on Saturday, Feb. 28 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the DOH-Brevard Conference Center in Viera (2555 Judge Fran Jamieson Way) to offer free health screenings and interactive activities for residents.  Space Coast Daily

  • Gabriel Player, a rising junior from Eau Gallie, has received over 20 college football offers from top programs such as Ohio State and Miami after a breakout 2025 season with 59 tackles and four defensive touchdowns, and he says the extra attention motivates him for the spring.  Florida Today
