FINANCE NEWS

  • Tax season begins today as Palm Bay residents file 2025 returns using the new Schedule 1-A for enhanced deductions. The IRS expects larger refunds with faster direct deposit processing, and the filing deadline is set for April 15.  Florida Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The DEP will hold an open house meeting for Blue Origin’s wastewater permit renewal from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the UF/IFAS Extension auditorium (3695 Lake Drive in west Cocoa), allowing residents to speak with experts despite county objections.  Florida Today
  • Florida law prohibits drivers from wearing headphones except for law enforcement, motorcyclists, or those using a single earbud for communication (penalties include fines and license points). The rule aims to cut distracted driving that has led to many crashes.  Florida Today

SPORTS NEWS

  • Brevard County high school sports will feature district championships in soccer and basketball this week from Monday through Saturday, including games in Palm Bay and at other local schools (check official school notices for details).  Florida Today
  • The Eastern Florida State College men’s golf team opens its spring season today at the Titan Winter Invitational at Suntree Country Club. They begin with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. on the Classic Course and will compete against strong teams like Central Alabama & Wallace State.  Space Coast Daily
