EDUCATION NEWS

  • Eastern Florida State College's men's golf team will start its spring schedule with the Titan Winter Invitational on Jan. 26-27 at Suntree Country Club and compete in five tournaments before postseason; the women's team will begin play in February at the Coastal Georgia Invitational on Jekyll Island. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • NASA is set to roll out the Artemis II stack from the Kennedy Space Center Vehicle Assembly Building on Saturday, Jan. 17 for a 10-day test flight around the moon before a possible Feb. 6 launch; the rollout is part of rigorous safety preparations + technical checks.  Hometown News
  • NASA confirmed billionaire Jared Isaacman as its 15th administrator last month, replacing Bill Nelson—a Space Coast native who graduated from Melbourne High School. Isaacman now plans to lead major space missions through his Polaris Program.  Florida Today

HEALTH NEWS

  • Residents who joined Dry January are extending their sobriety because they notice better sleep, mood, and mental clarity. Local actor Terry Girard (a long-time participant) says avoiding alcohol helps him dodge next-day hangovers and feel more energized.  Florida Today

  • Viera High School wrestling teams shined at the Palm Beach Gardens Invitational on Jan. 10, with 20 wrestlers finishing in the top four+ the girls claimed the overall championship and the boys came in second, setting a strong tone for the postseason.  Space Coast Daily
